As we age, facial bones shrink causing changes in the appearance and shape of the face. We also lose subcutaneous and deep fat. So ultimately we lose the scaffolding that gives shape and keeps the skin tight on the face, resulting in the formation of wrinkles and sagging of the skin.
DERMAL FILLERS are soft, gel-like substances that are injected at different depths to diminish facial lines and folds, restoring lost bone and fat volume in the face. Dermal fillers can also be used when the aim is to achieve definition and/or volume, as it is often the case with lips and cheek bones.
There are several types of dermal fillers. The ones I used are hyaluronic acid. The effects are noticeable immediately and further effect is achieved as the filler absorbs water over a few days after treatment. Depending on the brand and the individual, the effects can last from 9 to 18 months. Shorter lasting fillers are slightly less costly and are more ideal for first treatments.
The type of filler, the amount to inject and the areas to be treated are discussed and decided during the initial consultation.

LIP FILLERS are a type of injectable that adds volume to the lips in order to create a bigger, plumper pout. They can also replace lost volume, smooth out wrinkles around the mouth area and create improved definition and shape.
Fillers offer an immediate solution to plump the lips, and since they are not permanent, they are ideal for those who would like to change up their appearance without making any long-term commitments.
